This course is offered in partnership with the Conrad Grebel University College, affiliated with the University of Waterloo.
This three-day workshop will engage learners in articulating and reflecting upon how they plan and execute their mediation interventions. The Reflective Practitioner model allows participants to glean more learning from each role-play or mediation experience and to prepare more effectively for the next challenge.
The course is structured to optimize time spent in role-plays and simulations, punctuated by demonstrations and lecturettes of critically important skills and approaches. Enrolment is limited to provide for maximum coach-to-participant interaction and coaching opportunities. The coaches will do less "telling" and allow participants to explore their own styles and techniques.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience realistic cases, both of a transactional and interpersonal nature. As a result, participants will be better prepared to handle commercial disputes involving lawyers, and also relational conflicts in the workplace or in families.
The prerequisite for the course is a minimum 40 hours of ADR training.
Following the workshop, learners will receive personalized course in written or oral feedback on their skills and constructive suggestions to take their abilities to the next level.
Those who complete this program will receive credit towards the Certificate in Conflict Management and the Advanced Certificate in Conflict Management at Conrad Grebel University College.
